5 Components of Story Front Of The Class

Exposition - Brad is a person known for his tics and having tourettes he hails from Atlanta Georgia and has siblings and a supportive mom.  We see the film start off with him riding his bike and racing his brother.  The children start calling him names because of his tourettes.  He didn’t have any friends besides his brother.

Rising Action - Brad faced a lot of turmoil in his younger ages because he had a disability and people didn’t think much of it except that he was a badly behaved boy at the time. We can see this when the principal called him and his mother for a discussion saying that he was behaving badly, but in all reality it was his tics.

Climax - The climax of the film is when Brad calls and speaks to his mother over the phone. He got to the point where no one was allowing him to work anywhere regardless of how well done his resume was.  He called and spoke to his mother about this topic, and I remember how his mom told him “So you’re going to let tourrettes win?”.  As a child Brad told his mom that he would never let tourrettes win after going to the church meeting. We now see him at the tip of his scale.

Falling Action - After being turned down by countless jobs due to his disability, he is able to finally become a second grade teacher due to his easy-going, likable personality and his humor. He taught the students valuable lessons and was able to win them over.

Conclusion - After all the hardship Brad had faced, he was chosen to receive the “teacher of the year award”. He turned his struggles into an example and proved to people that you can do anything you put your mind to regardless of the  situation and who’s watching.
